Indiana Grabs a Pair of Wins on Final Day of Indiana Classic

Sarah Myers Scores 100th Career Goal
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana closed out the Indiana Classic with two commanding wins on Sunday inside Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.
Game 18: No. 10 Indiana 14, VMI 9 // Box Score

Led by a strong powerplay (3-for-4), the Hoosiers rolled in their first game of the day. Juli Hilovsky took six shots and scored on five of them, a career-high.
After conceding the first goal, the Hoosiers scored six of the games next seven. Although teams shared a pair of goals in the second quarter, Indiana took a 7-4 lead into half.
Behind three goals by Hilovsky and two by Emma Perez and Megan Abarta in the third quarter, IU padded their score. A defensive fourth quarter and a few of the 11 saves by Jessica Gaudreault secured victory.

Although a shaky start, the Hoosiers piled it on in the later points of the game as they grabbed their 15th win. The last goal scored by Sarah Myers proved to be her 100th goal of her career.
After a IU goal 30 seconds in, Marist responded with a tying tally. Four unanswered goals later and it was 5-1 Hoosiers. Before the first half ended, Jennifer Beadle found herself with a hat trick.
The second half look more of the same as IU conceded one goal in the last two quarters. This time it was Abarta who recorded a hat trick in a solo half. While the Hoosiers were piling up goals, Gaudreault was stopping them as she finished the game with five saves and eight steals.
