SETTING THE SCENE
• Indiana (9-3) continues a 10-game home stand this weekend as it hosts the Pacific Tigers (6-8) for a three-game series from Bart Kaufman Field.
• First pitch on Friday is set for 3:05 p.m. ET, followed by a 2:05 p.m. first pitch on Saturday and a 1:05 p.m. ET start on Sunday. All three games will be carried on BTN Plus.
• The teams are meeting for the first time ever.
• Indiana Head Coach Chris Lemonis is in his fourth season leading the Hoosier baseball program and his 24th overall year in coaching. He has posted a 110-75-2 record and has led the program to two regional at-large bids in his first three seasons.
• Pacific Head Coach Ryan Garko was named the 18th head coach of Pacific on July 25, 2017. He spent parts of six seasons in Major League Baseball with the Cleveland Indians (2005-2009), San Francisco Giants (2009) and Texas Rangers (2010), helping the Rangers to the 2010 AL Pennant.
LEADING OFF
• The Hoosiers entered the week ranked in six polls. IU is ranked 12th by Collegiate Baseball, 14th by D1Baseball.com, 15th by the NCBWA, 15th by Perfect Game, 17th by the USA Today Baseball Coaches Poll, and 18th by Baseball America
• IU earned a series win in which it took three of four games at the San Diego Toreros (March 2-4). The Hoosiers hit .329 as a team in the four-game series and had 15 extra-base hits, including four home runs, nine doubles, and two triples to improve to 9-2 on the year.
• For the third consecutive season, catcher Ryan Fineman has been named to the Johnny Bench Award Watch List, an award that recognizes the nation's top catcher.
• Sophomore Matt Gorski was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week after San Diego series, as he hit .529 on the week, going 7-for-19 with a run scored, double, triple, five RBI, a stolen base and 12 total bases in the 3-1 series win.
• Freshman Elijah Dunham was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after the San Diego series, as he went 6-for-12 on the weekend, posting a .500 batting average to go along with two doubles, an RBI, four runs, eight total bases, and posted at least one hit in all four games.
