• Indiana (23-6, 3-2) continues Big Ten play as it hosts Northwestern for a three-game series at Bart Kaufman Field.
• Friday will be the 186th ever meeting between IU and Northwestern, as the two squads met last season in Evanston, with the Hoosiers earning the sweep.
• IU leads the all-time series between the two schools, 108-74-3.
• Indiana Head Coach Chris Lemonis is in his fourth season leading the Hoosier baseball program and his 24th overall year in coaching. He has posted a 124-78-2 record and has led the program to two regional at-large bids in his first three full seasons.
• Northwestern head coach Spencer Allen enters his third season at the helm of the Wildcat baseball program. In 2017, Allen led Northwestern to its first appearance in the B1G Tournament since 2010 and a run to the B1G Tournament championship game for the first time since 1984.
• The Hoosiers entered the week ranked in all six polls. IU is ranked 10th by D1Baseball.com, 11th by Perfect Game, 12th by the NCBWA , 13th in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, 15th by Collegiate Baseball, and 16th by Baseball America.
• IU just finished an eight-game stretch against teams from the state of Indiana. The Hoosiers went 7-1 in those games (3-0 vs. Butler, 2-1 vs. Purdue, 2-0 vs. Indiana State).
• The Hoosiers are 14-2 in their last 16 games and have not lost more than two games in a row so far this season. Indiana has posted two seven-game win streaks through the first 29 games in addition to a four-game win streak.
• The IU pitching staff is first in the Big Ten in ERA (2.47, 3rd nationally), walks per nine innings (3.02, 19th) and WHIP (1.25, 25th), second in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.53, 39th), and shutouts (4, T-16th) and is third in hits allowed per nine innings (8.36).
• Offensively, Indiana is second in the Big Ten in slugging percentage (.450, 25th nationally), home runs per game (1.0, 32nd), doubles per game (2.0, 39th) and hit by pitch (41), is third in batting average (.289, 49th), on base percentage (.382) and hits (281), and is fourth in total bases (438).
• The 23-6 start for the Hoosiers is their best 29-game start since 2013, when that squad opened the year going 25-4.
