Hoosiers Fall Against No. 35 Buckeyes

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team fell, 6-1, against No. 35 Ohio State on Friday at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts.
Senior Xiwei Cai put the Hoosiers (15-9) on the board with a 5-7, 6-3, 11-9 win at the No. 4 singles position.
The Hoosiers dropped the doubles point as the Buckeyes won the No. 1 double match with their No. 30 nationally ranked pair, 6-1. Ohio State also claimed the No. 2 doubles match to clinch the doubles point.
After going down 4-1 in her opening set, Caitlin Bernard showed great fight to win the next five games and take a 5-4 lead. She ultimately dropped the set, 7-5.
IU head coach Ramiro Azcui said he was happy with the way his team battled in the match and he is looking forward to getting back at it on Sunday.
The Hoosiers will host their final home match of the season on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. ET against Penn State.
