Three Hoosiers In Top 20 After Day One at Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational

COLUMBUS - Three Top 20 performances paced the way as Indiana sits in sixth place after 36 holes at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational on Saturday.
Sophomore Elisa Pierre is the Hoosiers' leader, sitting in T10th (147) at the Ohio State University Golf course. The Santa Clarita, Calif. native opened up the day with an even par performance in the first 18 while finishing the day with four total birdies. Junior Erin Harper is just one stroke behind Pierre, as she came in the day T13th (148) including a 1-under round in round two. Her day included five birdies, four of which she shot in the second round.
As a team, the Hoosiers are sixth overall as it improved from round one to round two, coming in with a 304 before shaving off 11 strokes in the second with a 293. Their combined score of 597 is just five strokes out of third place, with Kent State leading the field behind Illinois, Michigan State, Washington and Oregon State in the top five.
The lowest round of the day for IU came with freshman Mary Parsons who shot 2-under (70) in the second round of the day, as she shaved off nine strokes from her opening scorecard. It marked the 13th round at or below par for Parsons on the season, which is a team-high. Senior Alix Kong is T40th (153) and freshman Priscilla Schmid added a T61st performance (158). Rounding out the IU field is senior Pear Siriko in T77th (163).
The final round of the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET tomorrow morning.
