Hoosiers Split Ranked Doubleheader

Regular season ends with two Sunday games
BOSTON – The final weekend action at Harvard's Blodgett Pool saw the No. 13 Indiana water polo team split two games against top-25 competition on Saturday afternoon. The Hoosiers (22-7, 3-3) dropped their opening match to No. 15 Princeton, 10-8, but responded that evening with a 7-6 win over No. 22 Harvard in their home water.
Redshirt junior Karrie Kozokar is the standout player for Indiana through the first three games of this home stretch. Kozokar has 10 goals so far this weekend and is on a tear with 19 goals in the Hoosiers' last seven games.
Three Indiana seniors continued their climb up the all-time program leaderboards. Kelly Matthews earned her 145th career assist, tying Shae Fournier (2011-14) for third-most in IU history. Sarah Myers passed Lauren Wyckoff (2008-11) with her 141st career assist against Harvard and trails Matthews for the fifth-most dishes by a Hoosier.
Goalkeeper Jessica Gaudreault reached 252 season saves after making six against the Crimson, one stop shy of tying her single-season career high.

The Hoosiers were ready for a battle with the Tigers (15-7, 2-0) and came out swinging. Matthews and Kozokar put Indiana up 2-0 in the first two minutes, with Kozokar finding her second halfway through the quarter. The Tigers pulled even with two scores before the first quarter's end.
Joelle Nacouzi broke the second quarter stalemate with five minutes left in the half on a power play, but Princeton scored two unanswered and gained the lead before halftime. The Tigers extended their differential with the first goal in the third quarter, but Matthews converted with 25 seconds left in the frame to keep the Hoosiers within a score.
Kozokar's opening goal in the fourth completed her hat trick, tied the game at 6-6, and began a seven-goal flying finish between the squads. Princeton put the game away with a 3-0 run after Kozokar's goal, but Indiana fought to the finish and saw Nacouzi and Emily Powell earn goals down the stretch.
Powell matched her career high with three assists, while Myers added two assists to the Indiana attack.

The Hoosiers and Crimson played to a one-goal result, their second of the year, and Indiana emerged victorious once again. They broke a stale start on the last play of the first quarter, when Matthews slotted the opening goal with two seconds on the clock.
Harvard regrouped and delivered a 3-0 scoring run in the second quarter for a 3-1 lead. Indiana did the same after the Crimson run and scored on their next possession, a power play goal by Kozokar. The weekend scoring leader earned another to tie the game, at 3-3, and Nacouzi's goal with 13 seconds remaining gave Indiana a halftime lead.
Kozokar tried to push Indiana away from the weekend hosts with a goal midway through the third quarter, completing her hat trick, but Harvard scored in the final 90 seconds to keep it close.
Harvard's goal on their first possession of the quarter tied the game for the third time and put pressure on the Indiana offense. The Hoosiers kept their composure and found Jessica Rodriguez on the next trip down the pool, regaining the lead for Indiana. Two minutes later, Sarah Myers delivered the game-winner for Indiana's ninth victory of the season over a ranked foe.
