Five Hoosiers Claim CRCA Scholar Athlete Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced their National Scholar-Athlete recipients on Wednesday and head coach Steve Peterson had five members of the team recognized.
The five honorees include Morgan McKay and Maddie Pierce, who both receive the honor for the second time. Elizabeth Meinzer, Elizabeth Saunders and Paige Spiller were all named to the list for the first time in their careers.
In order to receive the honor, the student-athlete must:
• Meet all eligibility rules as defined by their institution
• Be in their second, third or fourth year of eligibility
• Row in their institutions' NCAA or IRA eligible boat for a minimum of 75% of the spring season or in a regional conference event.
• The head coach at the student-athlete's institution must be in good standing with the CRCA as of May 1, 2017
• Have a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for their career through the fall semester of the current academic year.
