Penn State Invitational Next for Volleyball

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team will travel to State College, Pa., where they will take on Texas A&M and Temple this week in the Penn State Invitational.
The Schedule
Friday August 31 at 5:00 PM ET: Indiana vs. Texas A&M
Saturday September 1 at 5:00 PM ET: Indiana vs. Temple

UNLV Invitational
The Hoosiers went 3-0 at the UNLV Invitational with wins against UNLV, LIU-Brooklyn and Southern Utah. Kendall Beerman was named the MVP of the tournament and Deyshia Lofton and Bayli Lebo also earned spots on the All-Tournament Team.
Penn State Connections
IU head coach Steve Aird played at Penn State from 1997-2001. Aird was a two-year captain and played in three final fours. Aird had two stints on the Penn State women's volleyball staff as an assistant coach and was part of two national championship teams. In all, Aird has played in three final fours and coached in three final fours with Penn State. Assistant coach Daniel Gwitt also played at Penn State.
The Opponents
Texas A&M opened the season at the D.C. Koehl Classic hosted by Ohio State. The Aggies beat Ohio University and Albany, each in four sets, before dropping a 3-0 match against the Buckeyes. Temple opened the season at home and picked up a win against Rhode Island, before suffering defeats against LMU and Hofstra.

• The Hoosiers started the season 3-0 at the UNLV Invitational.
• Kendall Beerman was named the MVP of the UNLV Invitational.
• Beerman tallied 46 kills on the weekend and 4.18 kills per set.
• Deyshia Lofton recorded a career-high nine blocks against UNLV and had 20 total for the weekend (1.82 per set).
