Hoosiers Set For Miami Opener

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana University men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Oxford, Ohio to compete in the Miami Opener, the first meet of the season. A total of fifteen athletes will be wearing their candy stripes on the Miami University Cross Country Course Friday afternoon.
The Hoosiers will go up against Indiana State and Miami University. The women's 6k race is set to begin at 3:20 pm EST and the men's 8k race is scheduled to take off at 4:00 pm EST.
The women's team will feature eight athletes and will be led by senior Haley Harris and junior Kelsey Harris, the sisters return for their final year of competing side-by-side. They will be joined by junior Grace Walther, junior Lexa Barrott, sophomore Hannah Stoffel and sophomore Joely Pinkston. Freshman Claire Hamilton and freshman Josey Korte will round out the field for the Hoosiers while making their collegiate debut.
On the men's side the Hoosiers have seven athletes competing with a wide range of experience, including two transfer students. Graduate student Kenneth Hagen joins Indiana University after transferring from the University of Virginia. Hagen travels to Oxford, Ohio with a personal best 8k time of 24:46.70. Sophomore Hunter Moore will also make his debut as a Hoosier after transferring from Eastern Michigan University with a personal best 8k time of 25:17.50.
Senior Kyle Burks returns for his final season wearing IU on his chest and will be joined by junior Bryce Millar and sophomore Marcus Ellington. Freshman Reese Jordan and Aaron Bennett will round out the attack for the Hoosiers as they arrive in Oxford prepared for their first collegiate meet.
