BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis program announced the addition of Vikash Singh (Smith-Stearns Tennis Academy/India) to the 2018-19 roster. Singh will join IU in January and will fill out the 11th spot on a team returning seven from last season.
Singh is the fourth addition to the No. 19 ranked recruiting class of Carson Haskins, Patrick Fletchall and Mac Rogers that both head coach Jeremy Wurtzman and assistant coach Mike Murray brought in.
"We are excited to announce the commitment of Vikash as we have watched him grow and develop over the past few years," said head coach Jeremy Wurtzman. "Vikash has competed against the best juniors in the world and has had success at major tournaments on the ITF Junior Circuit. More impressive than his results is his work ethic. Vikash has put in a lot of hard work to get to the level that he is at and his drive to constantly develop will help him become a very successful college player for Indiana. We are excited for Vikash to start this January and have him wearing the cream and crimson!"
Currently ranked No. 127 in the world, Singh has seven ITF Junior Circuit titles to his name. Recently, Singh competed in his first grand slam at the Junior U.S. Open. In 2016, Singh had strong results at both the Orange Bowl, where he was a singles finalist and double semi-finalist, and the Eddie Herr International Junior Championships at IMG Academy, where Singh was a semi-finalist in both singles and doubles.
The Hoosiers will open their 2018 fall schedule when they head to Boston this weekend for the Harvard Chowder Fest.
