Postgame Notes - Indiana vs. Michigan State

TEAM
• Indiana finished with a 4-2 edge in takeaways and scored 18 points off of the Michigan State miscues.
• The Hoosiers have faced 19 ranked teams since the start of 2014.
• IU won the coin toss for the third time this season and elected to defer for the third time.
• Senior safety Jonathan Crawford, fifth-year senior offensive lineman Wes Martin, senior defensive lineman Jacob Robinson and fifth-year senior wide receiver Luke Timian served as today's captains for the fourth straight game.
DEFENSE
• Indiana produced two interceptions and two fumble recoveries in the game, the team's first four-takeaway game since the Foster Farms Bowl vs. Utah on Dec. 28, 2016. Since Tom Allen arrived in Bloomington in 2016, the Hoosiers have two four-takeaway, eight three-takeaway and 13 multi-takeaway games.
• IU scored 17 points off of the takeaways and has scored 31 points off of nine overall (4 interceptions, 5 fumble recoveries) in 2018.
• The Hoosiers finished with three sacks (2nd time this year), nine tackles for loss (2nd time this year) and three forced fumbles overall.
• Husky Marcelino Ball collected the first two sacks and the first forced fumble of his career. The redshirt sophomore finished with six tackles overall, a career-high three for loss, with the two sacks and one forced fumble.
• Fifth-year senior defensive end Nile Sykes, who missed the entire 2017 campaign due to injury, recorded his first sack of the season and his first since 2016. Sykes now has six sacks in his career.
• True freshman husky Cam Jones recorded his first career forced fumble and senior safety Jonathan Crawford made his sixth career recovery in the second quarter. Jones added his first career interception in the fourth quarter. Jones made three stops, all solo.
• Junior safety Khalil Bryant picked off the first pass of his career in the third quarter. Bryant also tied his career-high with five tackles, three solo.
• Redshirt junior linebacker Reakwon Jones recovered his first career fumble after it was forced out by true freshman safety Bryant Fitzgerald, the first of his career. Jones played in his 25th career game and Fitzgerald added one TFL.
• Crawford has had a hand in 18 career takeaways (9 interceptions, 6 fumble recoveries, 3 forced fumbles), including three this year (1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, 1 forced fumble).
• The Largo, Fla., native paced the team with a career-high tying eight solo tackles. His eight solos helped Crawford surpass 150 in his career.
• Junior cornerback A'Shon Riggins notched three solo tackles and reached 60 for his career.
• Redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Jerome Johnson earned his first career start.
OFFENSE
• Sophomore Whop Philyor matched a career-high with 13 receptions for a career-high 148 yards, including a career-best 65-yard touchdown. Philyor eclipsed double-digit receptions and 100 yards for the second time in his career.
• Philyor's 13 grabs are tied for the fourth-most in program history. He is the only IU pass-catcher with two games of 13-or-more catches.
• Redshirt sophomore quarterback Peyton Ramsey finished 32-of-46 for 272 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. His 32 completions tie a career-high and share the eighth-most in school history. Ramsey has three-multi TD games in four contests this year and owns six overall in his career.
• Fifth-year senior J-Shun Harris II made six receptions for 42 yards. It marked his first game with five-plus grabs since 2014 and the second-most in this career.
• Running back Stevie Scott got the Hoosiers on the board with his first career receiving touchdown. The true freshman has four total scores, with the other three coming on the ground.
• Redshirt junior wide receiver Donavan Hale, playing in his 30th game, made three receptions to move his career total to 32 and totaled 31 yards.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• J-Shun Harris II became the seventh Hoosier to reach 400 punt return yards. The fifth-year senior finished the game with 19 yards on one return and sits seventh on IU's career chart with 408.
• Redshirt junior Logan Justus netted the first two field goal game of his career with makes from 35 and 36 yards in two tries.
• Redshirt junior punter Haydon Whitehead had seven punts for 279 yards, giving him 4,212 career yards.
