Hoosiers face two Big Ten teams on road next weekend
Oxford, Ohio – The Indiana Field Hockey team (2-7) fell to the Miami Redhawks, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Miami Field Hockey Complex.
KEY MOMENTS
• Nineteen minutes into the game, on the second shot of the game, the Redhawks took a 1-0 lead after Paula Portugal netted her 10th of the season.
• With less than 10 remaining in the first half, Miami added to that lead with a goal off a redirect.
• Shortly after the second half began, the Hoosiers got their best chance of the day when Ciara Girouard's shot was saved off a corner.
• On the other end, the Redhawks tacked on a goal with their 46th minute strike right in front of the IU cage.
• With a backhanded shot to the right of the goal in the 52nd minute, Portugal and the Redhawks found the net again, taking a 4-0 lead.
• Paula Portugal completed her hat trick for Miami when she added to the tally with less than 30 seconds to go in the game.
NOTABLES
• Kelsey Giese and Ciara Girouard had a shot a piece for the Hoosiers. Girouard has a shot in nine-straight games.
• Giese leads the team with 31 shots this season and has 92 career, the 11th most in program history.
• Goalkeepers Sachi Ananias and Shelby Querry made one save each.
