
No. 4 Hoosiers Dominate VCU, 5-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 4-ranked Indiana University men's soccer team defeated the VCU Rams, 5-0, on Friday night at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington, Ind.
KEY MOMENTS
• Spencer Glass' goal for the Hoosiers in the 19th minute opened the floodgates for the Hoosiers (4-1), as the team scored three times in a total of 4:42 minutes of action. Glass' score was his first of the season, coming off a shot from the left side that deflected off a VCU (3-2) defender.
• Just over three minutes later, Justin Rennicks showed a great bit of individual skill, blazing past the VCU defense, hitting a beautiful shot to the far post from 16-yards out for his first career goal.
• Capping the goal barrage was Andrew Gutman off a give-and-go from Francesco Moore. Gutman netted his team-leading third goal of the season from 19-yards out.
• Trevor Swartz recorded his Big Ten-leading fourth assist of the season, placing a beautiful corner kick to the near post to A.J. Palazzolo, who headed home the effort from six yards out in the 31st minute.
• Rece Buckmaster scored his first goal since his freshman season in 2015, burying a cross from the left side from four yards. Joe Schmidt tallied his first career assist on the play, while Glass notched his third assist.

• The five goals in the first half for the Hoosiers are the most since IU netted five in the second half in a 5-0 win over Cal State Northridge on Sept. 16, 2005.
• Indiana has recorded four-straight shutouts, out-scoring their opponents, 10-0, in that stretch.
• Against VCU, Indiana out-shot the Rams, 12-2, getting seven shots on-goal to just two for VCU. Corner kicks were 8-1 in favor of IU.
• The Hoosier had five different goal scorers in the win and had 11 players take the team's 12 shots. In total, 21 players saw the pitch for Indiana in the victory.
