NOTES: IU Back In B1G Play At Home Vs. Illinois

OPENING TIP
Indiana University is in its 119th season of competition in men's basketball. The Hoosiers are ranked 21st in the AP Poll and 22nd in the coaches poll IU is in the midst of a six-game winning streak after defeating Jacksonville, 94-64. The Hoosiers went 2-0 in December in Big Ten play defeating Northwestern and Penn State. Illinois fell to Nebraska and Ohio State in their first two B1G games.
THE COACHES
Indiana Coach Archie Miller is in his second season of guiding the Cream and Crimson. He has a 27-17 record and 11-9 ledger in the Big Ten since taking over the Hoosiers. He is 164-80 in 7-plus years as a head coach, which includes 6 years at the University of Dayton. His Flyer teams made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014. Illinois is guided by Brad Underwood, who is also in his second year.

IU is rated 20th in the NET. IU will play 6 of 8 on the road from January 6 to February 2. The Hoosiers completed their first undefeated calendar month (6-0 in December) since going 7-0 in November, 2012. The Hoosiers have five Top 50 wins according to KenPom--Marquette (27), Butler (30), Louisville (39), Northwestern (45) and Penn State (47). Their only losses came on the road at Duke (1) and Arkansas (59).
Senior forward Juwan Morgan and freshman guard Romeo Langford were selected to the 10-member Preseason All-Big Ten team. Both are among 50 players listed as candidates for the 2019 Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award and Langford is among 20 players on the NABC Player of the Year watch list. Langford was named third-team Preseason All-American by ESPN.com and CBSSports.com and earned fourth-team honors from WatchStadium.com. Langford has twice already been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Morgan also is up for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award.
Morgan earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors and USBWA Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week accolades after his record-setting 35-point effort against Butler. He has scored 1,040 career points. Langford's 20-point effort in his first Big Ten game is the most by an IU true freshman in their first conference outing since Eric Gordon had 25 in his first B1G contest at Iowa in 2008. He is the only Hoosier to score in double digits every game and has twice been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

The Hoosier are 4th in the country in 2-point field goal percentage at 60.4%. IU is 8th in the nation in effective field goal percentage at 58.8%.
Morgan had the program's second career triple-double (Steve Downing vs. Michigan, 1971, 28-17-10 blocks) with 10 points, 10 boards and 10 assists against Jacksonville. He is the Hoosiers first forward or center ever to notch 10 assists in a game.
