Hoosiers Host No. 2 Ohio State Friday, Open Wilkinson Hall Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana wrestling team is back at home for two matches this weekend. Indiana will host No. 2 Ohio State on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in University Gym. The Hoosiers will then host the grand opening of their new arena, Wilkinson Hall, on Sunday Jan. 13 at 2:00 p.m. against Maryland.

Ohio State comes in ranked No. 2 with a 5-0 dual match record. The Buckeyes lineup features seven ranked wrestlers, including six ranked in the top-10. Ohio State has three wrestlers that are undefeated on the season. At 184 the Buckeyes have No. 1 Myles Martin, the 2016 NCAA Champion. Maryland comes in with an 0-3 record on the season. The Terrapins will compete against Purdue on Friday Jan. 11 before making the trek to Bloomington. At 285 the Terrapins have No. 8 senior Youssif Hemida.

Ohio State has a 49-34-2 edge in the all-time series against Indiana, including nine in a row. The Hoosiers are 2-0 all-time against Maryland, with the most recent win coming Feb. 3, 2017 in College Park, Md, where Indiana won the dual 22-19.

• Wilkinson Hall is located at the corner of 17th Street and Fee Lane and in the same complex with Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
• Doors open 90 minutes before the start of match time, so 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
• Admission is free for wrestling matches and no tickets are required.
• Parking is in the blue lot. Those coming can enter by either gate 2 off of 17th street or gate 14 off of Fee Lane.
• Commemorative posters and Indiana wrestling hats will be given away while supplies last.
• The Hoosiers are welcoming back several alums of the program and they will be recognized at the match on Sunday.
• There will be a post-match autograph session by the home wrestling bench.
Last Time Out
Last time out the Hoosiers traveled to the South Beach Duals in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Indiana picked up their first win over a top-15 team in a decade as they beat No. 12 North Carolina, 19-16. Norman Conley had a key win at 184 against returning All-American No. 11 Chip Ness to help secure the match. The following day, against No. 7 NC State, Paul Konrath took down No. 4 Tariq Wilson at 133. Wilson had finished third at the NCAA Championships last year.
