ROSEMONT, Ill. – Indiana men's tennis senior Antonio Cembellin has been named the Big Ten Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
The honor comes after Cembellin began the 2019 season with two wins at the top singles spot over the past weekend when IU swept both their opponents.
Against Ball State on Sunday, Cembellin beat Marko Guzina in straight set fashion. Later in the day versus Toledo, it was more of the same as the Spain native knocked off Luka Vitosevic, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1).
Cembellin is the first Hoosier to get this recognition since Zac Brodney on April 10, 2018.
Up next, Indiana will take the road for the next three matches beginning next Sunday at Dartmouth. Less than a week later, the Hoosiers will go west to Los Angeles to face UCLA and either San Diego or Mississippi for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
