Four Hoosiers Ranked in First NCAA Rankings

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– The NCAA released their initial coaches panel rankings today and four Hoosiers earned spots in the rankings.
The final rankings will be one of the tools used as part of the selection process to determine qualifiers and seeding for the 2019 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on March 21-23 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
Senior Bryce Martin is the highest ranked Hoosier at 22nd at 165. Martin has an overall record of 15-6 this season, including 4-1 in Big Ten dual competition.
At 174 Jake Covaciu is ranked at the 25 spot. Covaciu picked up bonus points for the Hoosiers with a major decision in their win over No. 12 North Carolina at the South Beach Duals.
Senior Jake Danishek comes in at 27 at 157. Danishek earned Big Ten Co-Wrestler of the Week honors this week after picking up a win over No. 6 Griffin Parriott of Purdue. Danishek is 15-9 overall and 4-1 in Big Ten duals.
Garrett Pepple is ranked 29th at 133. Pepple has an overall record of 13-9 on the season and has four pins.
The Hoosiers host No. 1 Penn State on Sunday Jan. 27 at 1:00 p.m. in Wilkinson Hall.
