Women’s Tennis Opens Season Hosting Xavier, Cincinnati

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will open the spring season by hosting Xavier and Cincinnati on Saturday Jan. 26 at the IU Tennis Center.
Dedicating the Season in Loving Memory of Harrison & Shelby
The Indiana women's tennis team is dedicating the season in memory of Harrison & Shelby, kids of IU women's tennis alum Stephanie Reece. The Hoosiers will wear a special patch on their uniforms in their memory.

Last Time Out
Last time out the Hoosiers competed at the IU Winter Invitational. The team combined to go 11-3 in singles and 15-3 in doubles. The doubles teams of Madison Appel/Jelly Bozovic and Natalie Whalen and Caitlin Bernard each went a perfect 6-0. Appel and Whalen each recorded 2-0 marks in singles competition.
Appel Earns Big Ten Athlete of the Week Honors
Following her perfect 8-0 mark at the IU Winter Invitational, senior Madison Appel was recognized as the Big Ten Athlete of the Week. Appel started the season ranked No. 97 in singles in the Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Ranking. Appel is 8-2 in singles for the season and 8-1 in doubles.
