BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Despite a hot start, Indiana couldn't keep pace with No. 11/10 Maryland, falling 76-56, on Sunday afternoon inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
KEY MOMENTS
- Indiana (16-5, 5-4 B1G) got out to a fast start, leading by as many as eight with 3:14 to play in the first quarter. Wise had back-to-back 3-pointers to give Indiana its largest lead at 14-6 with 4:57 on the clock.
- But Maryland responded with a 6-0 run to end the frame to tie the game up at 20-all.
- In the second quarter, the Hoosiers went cold from the floor as a 14-0 run in the final five plus minutes of the frame gave the Terps a 40-25 lead at the break. They would go on to outscore IU, 20-5 in the second quarter.
- Just seven made field goals combined were scored in the third quarter with Indiana (28.6 percent) and Maryland (12.5 percent) both struggling from the field. Maryland would take a 52-35 lead heading into the fourth.
- IU shot 63.6 percent in the final period, but just couldn't get any sort of momentum going as Maryland would walk away with the win.
NOTABLE
- Sophomore guard Jaelynn Penn led the Hoosiers in scoring with 15 points. This is the ninth straight game that the Louisville, Ky. native has scored in double figures.

- Sophomore guard Bendu Yeaney also put up doubles figures as she scored 10 points while grabbing five rebounds
- Redshirt Junior Breanna Wise scored nine points and snagged five rebounds
- There were four lead changes and six ties.
- Indiana shot just 38% on the day and was outrebounded by Maryland, 42-35.
QUOTABLE
Indiana head coach Teri Moren
"I am disappointed with the outcome of today. We got off to a good start, I'll say that, but then our turnovers. I think we had seven in the first quarter. Any of the momentum that we had was taken, especially like I said, with how we got off to a good start but turned it over way too much and continued to turn it over. We got into halftime and looked at the stat sheet and felt like as a staff we were defending in the half court, but it's not hard to hit wide open layups and we talked about not beating ourselves today. That was one of the keys, was not beating ourselves and we beat ourselves in the first half for sure and that was disappointing. Whether we were just careless with the ball, we were attacking. They are terrific and have terrific size and athleticism, so we had a difficult time I thought controlling our ball handling today and that led to some runouts. We dug ourselves a hole and just could never really get any kind of rhythm the rest of the game, and that was disappointing. We had kids that, I thought, continued to fight, but it just wasn't enough. We just didn't play smart enough this afternoon to beat a team like Maryland."
