Women’s Tennis Hosts Trio of Matches This Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will host three matches this weekend at the IU Tennis Center as Western Michigan, Marquette and Butler come to town.
Dedicating the Season in Loving Memory of Harrison & Shelby
The Indiana women's tennis team is dedicating the season in memory of Harrison & Shelby, kids of IU women's tennis alum Stephanie Reece. The Hoosiers will wear a special patch on their uniforms in their memory.
The Schedule
Indiana vs. Western Michigan: February 2 at 11:00 a.m.
Indiana vs. Marquette: February 3 at 11:00 a.m.
Indiana vs. Butler: February 3 at 5:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
Despite playing without their number one player, the Hoosiers split matches against Xavier and Cincinnati to open dual match play in 2019. After falling against Xavier earlier in the day, the Hoosiers came back to beat Cincinnati, 4-3. Senior Natalie Whalen forced a tiebreak in her second set and dominated the third set 6-0 to clinch the match for the Hoosiers.

Madison Appel and Natalie Whalen have each record 8-2 records in singles competition to lead the Hoosiers this season. On the doubles side, Appel and Jelly Bozovic have teamed up to go 8-1 and Whalen and Caitlin Bernard have a season record of 10-2.
The 2018 Season
In the 2018 season, Indiana played each of the opponents they will square off against this weekend. The Hoosiers opened the season with wins against Western Michigan (6-1) and Butler (7-0). Two weeks later, the Indiana hosted Marquette and won that dual by a score of 6-1.

The Hoosiers have 17 home matches in the 2019 season. This weekend will start a string of six straight home matches. Next week, the Hoosiers will host James Madison, Notre Dame and Saint Louis.
