BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Indiana Women's Soccer (6-6-1, 3-4-1) saw a strong performance under that lights on Thursday night but a goal by Penn State (8-6-1, 4-3-0) halfway through the second half proved to the difference as the Hoosiers fell to the Nittany Lions, 1-0.
KEY MOMENTS
• Junior Melanie Forbes saw the first chance of Thursday's match that was on target in the 13th minute but Penn State's goalkeeper was able to get in front of it for the save.
• The Hoosiers got off to a strong start to in the second half as Alaina Kalin and Forbes both fired off shots in the box. Kalin's ball was blocked by a Nittany Lions defense while Forbes' shot went wide of the target.
• In the 63rd minute Penn State would find the back of the net to take the lead, 1-0.
• Kopel made a key save in the 65th minute to minimize the damage. The junior was able to tip the opportunity from the Nittany Lions above the crossbar.
• Indiana would see their best chance of the contest in the 87th minute from senior captain Chandra Davidson. Davidson was able to weave past the defenders but their keeper was there for the save bottom center.
