COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Indiana volleyball team came up short as they fell 3-2 against Maryland (27-25, 25-23, 22-25, 20-25, 12-15) on Wednesday.

Key Moments

The Hoosiers scored the first three points of the match and took a 3-0 first set lead on an ace by Kamryn Malloy.
With the Hoosiers leading 17-16 in the opening set, Maryland used a 5-0 run to go up 21-17.
Trailing 23-18 in the first set, the Hoosiers scored four straight and would eventually tie the set, 24-24. After Maryland took a 25-24 lead, Indiana scored three straight points to win the first set, 27-25.
Late in the second set Indiana trailed 22-19, but again came back with a 5-0 run go up 24-22 and win the second set, 25-23.
Maryland won the third set, 25-22 and jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the third set. The Terrapins would go on to win set four, 25-20 to set up a fifth set.
With Maryland leading 11-9 in the fifth set, Indiana scored three straight points to take a 12-11 lead on a kill from Breana Edwards.
After the 3-0 Indiana run, Maryland scored the final four points to win the match with a 15-12 fifth set win.

Notables

The Hoosiers fell to 12-8 overall and 1-6 in Big Ten play. Maryland improved to 11-8 overall and 3-4 in Big Ten play.
Deyshia Lofton tallied three blocks and moved into eighth on the Hoosiers all-time list for career blocks. She now had 391.
Freshman Haley Armstrong recorded a season-high 23 digs for the match.
The Hoosiers had four players reach double-digits in digs, led by Armstrong.
Breana Edwards led Indiana with 14 kills.
Victoria Brisack recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 25 assists and 10 digs.
Kamryn Malloy tallied three aces in the match. It was Malloy's fourth match of the season with at least three aces.
