Indiana Sends Berggren and Gaesser to Musketeers Classic

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Indiana Men's Golf will send a pair of Hoosiers to compete in this week's Musketeer Classic hosted by Xavier as senior Evan Gaesser and freshmen Eric Berggren will travel to the event, which tees off Monday morning.

The teams will play 36 holes on Monday beginning at 8:30 a.m. The final round will tee of Tuesday at 9 a.m. The Musketeer Classic will feature representatives from 16 teams, with four of those only sending individuals.
Gaesser is competing in his first tournament of the season with his last outing coming in the Big Ten Championship in the spring. Overall last year, he averaged a 74.63, highlighted by a top-10 finish at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational.
Berggren has played in a pair of tournaments this season as an individual. His low round so far was a 73 in the second round of the Windom Memorial.
Tournament No. 1 Recap – Windon Memorial
Indiana earned a top-10 finish at the first event of the year at Windon Memorial, highlighted by a top-20 outing from sophomore Mitch Davis, who tied for 16th. Davis led the field in par-3 scoring and bogeyed just one hole on the final day. Harry Reynolds (T30) and Jack Sparrow (T35) each carded a round of 69 in the event.
Tournament No. 2 Recap – Olympia Fields
The Hoosiers competed in the prestigious Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational amongst the nation's best Sept. 20-22. Brock Ochsenreiter led the Indiana lineup as he moved up four spots on the final day to finish tied for 54th.
Tournament No. 3 Recap – Marquette Intercollegiate
Last time out, Indiana earned its best finish thus far as the Hoosiers came in fifth in the Marquette Intercollegiate. IU saw two finish in the top-20 with Jack Sparrow (T12, 1-under-par) and Mitch Davis (T19, 2-over-par).
Tournament No. 4 Recap – Crooked Stick Invitational
Senior Brock Ochsenreiter led the Hoosiers at Crooked Stick, carding the team's best round of the tournament on the final day (1-under-par 71) to finish tied for 21st. Sophomore Mitch Davis also posted a top-30 finish as he tied for 28th. As a group, the Hoosiers finished in eighth place.
