Shepherd Leads the Hoosiers Through First Two Rounds of Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

LOXLEY, Ala. – Indiana Men's Golf junior Ethan Shepherd led the Hoosiers in day one of the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, tying his career-low round by firing a 6-under-par 66 in the second round to finish the two rounds tied for 7th at 1-under-par.

CHIP-INS
• While the Hoosiers completed both rounds, a handful of golfers from other schools were unable to finish due to darkness. They will complete their seconds rounds tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. ET prior to the start of the final round.
• The first round was a shotgun start with round two starting immediately following its conclusion.
• Shepherd carded a 77 in the first round before improving by an impressive 11 strokes in the second round. He was on fire on the front nine during his second round, collecting five birdies to make the turn at 5-under. He picked up two more birdies on the back nine and bogeyed just one hole. Shepherd previously shot a 66 last season in the second round of the Chatham Hills Collegiate.
• Senior Brock Ochsenreiter turned in a 73 in both rounds to move into a tie for 17th place at 2-over-par. The front nine was a mixed bag in the first round for Ochsenreiter who carded four birdies to help cancel out a few bogeys and make the turn at 1-over. The back nine was his strength all day as he was even in both rounds.
• Graduate student Jack Sparrow tied for the most birdies in the field with 10, as he ended the day at 3-over-par. He was best on the front nine as he turned in a 36 (even) and a 34 (2-under), respectively. He currently sits tied for 27th.
• Sophomore Harry Reynolds had an impressive opening round as he turned in a 1-under-par 71. He had four birdies in the opening round and had just three bogeys. Reynolds posted a 77 in the second round and is currently tied for 36th.
• Fellow sophomore Mitch Davis also had his strongest round in the opener, carding an even-72. On the back nine, he shot a 2-under-par 34 with four birdies. He posted an 81 in the second round and is tied for 58th.
• Freshman Drew Giacchetto shot an 89 in the first round before improving by 12 strokes in the second round. He picked up a pair of birdies in the round.
