
IU Men’s Golf Concludes Fall Play at Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

LOXLEY, Ala. – Indiana Men's Golf concludes its fall slate this weekend as the Hoosiers travel to Alabama for the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational at the Steelwood Country Club. The teams will play 36 holes on Saturday with final round teeing off Sunday morning.

Tournament Notes
This year will mark the fourth Steelwood Collegiate event and is played on a Steelwood Golf Course that was designed by former U.S. Open Champion Jerry Pate. Last season, the Hoosiers competed in the event for the first time and finished fourth as a team, led by a second-place outing from Ochsenreiter who carded a 7-under-par. Ochsenreiter holds the tournament record for a low round as he carded an 8-under-par 64 in the second-round last year.
The first round will tee off at 9:30 a.m. ET in a shotgun start with continuous play into the second round. The final round will begin on holes No. 1 and 10 on Sunday at 8:40 a.m. ET
Davis Collects Third Top-30 Finish
Sophomore Mitch Davis earned his third top-30 finish of the season at the Crooked Stick Invitational, coming in at tie for 28th place. Through the first four events of the year, Davis is leading the team in scoring with a 73.83. Davis is coming off a freshman year that saw him post the second-best average ever for an Indiana freshman (73.27).
Sparrow Posts Best Finish of the Season
Jack Sparrow earned the best finish of the season thus for a Hoosier at the Marquette Intercollegiate (Oct. 6-8) as he carded a 1-under-par to end the event tied for 12th. Sparrow improved in each round, saving his best for last as he shot a 2-under-par 70 on the final round.
Top Returners
Indiana's team lineup this week is the same group that has competed in the first four tournaments of the season. Altogether, the five in the team lineup have combined for 317 career rounds, led by 105 rounds from senior Brock Ochsenreiter.
Tournament No. 1 Recap – Windon Memorial
Indiana earned a top-10 finish at the first event of the year at Windon Memorial, highlighted by a top-20 outing from sophomore Mitch Davis, who tied for 16th. Davis led the field in par-3 scoring and bogeyed just one hole on the final day. Harry Reynolds (T30) and Jack Sparrow (T35) each carded a round of 69 in the event.
Tournament No. 2 Recap – Olympia Fields
The Hoosiers competed in the prestigious Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational amongst the nation's best Sept. 20-22. Ochsenreiter led the Indiana lineup as he moved up four spots on the final day to finish tied for 54th.
Tournament No. 3 Recap – Marquette Intercollegiate
Indiana earned its best finish of the season as the Hoosiers came in fifth in the Marquette Intercollegiate. IU saw two finish in the top-20 with Jack Sparrow (T12, 1-under-par) and Mitch Davis (T19, 2-over-par).
Tournament No. 4 Recap – Crooked Stick Invitational
Last time out, Indiana played host to the Crooked Stick Invitational along with Purdue. The Hoosiers finished in eighth place with Ochsenreiter earning a top-25 finish, carding a 1-under-par 71 in the final round to finish tied for 21st.
