Hoosiers Clash with In-state Rival Purdue on Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer (7-7-2, 3-4-2) will close out their home schedule on Sunday Oct. 27 vs. Purdue (6-8-3,2-6-2). Kickoff is set for the 1p and the match can be streamed live on BTN+.

SCOUTING THE BOILERMAKERS
• Purdue spent the last weekend on the east coast where they faced Rutgers and Maryland. On Friday at then No. 22 Rutgers, the Boilermakers were able to force overtime but a goal in the first two minutes of the period elevated the Scarlet Knights over Purdue, 1-0. The Boilermakers closed out the road trip at Maryland where two second half goal by the Terrapins pushed them past Purdue, 2-1. Leanna Rebimbas leads the Boilermakers offense with three goals and three assists. Maris Bova has played all 1592 minutes of Purdue Women's Soccer in front of the net, tallying 54 saves.
• The Boilermakers hold a 14-4-5 advantage in the all-time series. In 2018, the two teams played to overtime but the Hoosiers would come up short as Purdue scored in 104th minute to win the match, 1-0.
QUEST FOR THE GOLDEN BOOT
• The Hoosiers will try to regain possession of the Golden Boot trophy on Sunday for the first time since their 1-0 victory over the Boilermakers in 2014. In this historic rivalry, the Golden Boot trophy is given to the winning team each year.
SUNDAY PROMOTIONS
• On Sunday, fans are encouraged to bring their 4-legged friends out to Bill Armstrong Stadium for Pups at the Pitch.
• The first 250 fans in attendance will receive Women's Soccer Bracelets.
•The Student Athletic Board will be handing out free t-shirts to the first 200 students in attendance at Sunday's match.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Hoosiers were on the road this past weekend as they took on Maryland and Rutgers. Indiana played Maryland on Friday where 120 minutes of action wasn't enough to decide the outcome as Indiana and the Terrapins played to a 0-0 draw.
NONCONFERENCE WRAPUP
• The Hoosiers ended non-conference play on a three-game win streak. The carry a 4-3 record that includes wins over UIC, Morehead State, UT Martin, and Kentucky.
• Of Indiana's seven non-conference games on the schedule, just two were played home (UIC and Morehead State).
• Indiana's non-conference road slate included three different states - North Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee.
IMMEDIATE IMPACT
• Four freshmen have earned starts so far this season – Alaina Kalin, Avery Lockwood, Bria Telemaque and Jaimie Tottleben. In addition, sophomore transfer Oliwia Wos has also started each of the first five contests.
• Lockwood and Kalin each scored their first career goals on Sunday. Kalin added her first career assist, as did freshman Jaimie Tottleben and sophomores Madeline Carlson and Megan Wampler.
NEWS AND NOTES
• Indiana has shut out seven opponents this season. The Hoosiers have kept UIC, Morhead State, Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, and Ohio State all scoreless. This is the most shutouts in a single season since 2013 when the Hoosiers had nine.
•The Hoosiers have let up just one goal in their last 336 minutes of soccer. Their goal against Rutgers in the 94th minute was the first since Oct. 10 vs Penn State.
• After a shutout against Ohio State on Oct. 13, junior goalkeeper Bethany Kopel became the program's all-time shutouts leader with 16 in her career. In addition, her 228 saves is tied for second all-time at Indiana, while her 18 victories tie for fifth.
• Freshman Avery Lockwood was named to Top Drawers Soccer's Freshmen Top 100 on Oct. 14. Lockwood checked in at 43rd on the list. In her freshman campaign, she leads the Indiana offense with four goals, two assists, and 10 points.
• Davidson earned the title of team captain for the season.
UP NEXT
• Indiana Women's Soccer will conclude the regular season on the road at Michigan State on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The match will serve as the make-up game from Sept. 27 when the contest was stopped in the 23rd minute due to weather. Kickoff is set for 1p in East Lansing, Mich.
