Hoosiers Downed by Northwestern in Final Game of 2019 Campaign

EVANSTON, Ill. – Indiana Field Hockey traveled to Northwestern for their final game of the 2019 season. A potent Northwestern offense caused the Hoosiers to fall on Friday afternoon, 6-0.
KEY MOMENTS
• Junior goalkeeper Sachi Ananias had two back-to-back saves in the first quarter to keep the match scoreless through the first 15 minutes of action.
• Northwestern came out firing in the second quarter as they would score their first two goals of contest. The first goal was scored off a penalty corner before the second goal came in the closing seconds of the frame.
• In the third quarter, the Wildcats were able to put three goals on the board. To end the quarter the Hoosiers saw a chance at a goal off a penalty corner. Hailey Couch, Kelsey Giese and Ciara Girouard all tallied shots but couldn't get one to hit the back of the cage.
• In the eighth minute of the fourth quarter Northwestern earned a penalty corner. The Wildcats would get off two shot but the first one was blocked by an IU defender before the second was saved by Ananias. Trying to generate offense, Savannah Bucher and Grace Sensenig would put up a pair of shots but the Wildcats goalkeeper saved them both. A final goal would be scored by Northwestern as the Hoosiers fell, 6-0.
