Midlands Championships Next for Indiana Wrestling

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– The Indiana wrestling team is back in action as they are set to compete in a loaded field at the 57th Annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championship, Dec. 29-30 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
The Midlands Championships will feature 26 teams including, 10 ranked teams (#1 Iowa, #4 Wisconsin, #8 Northern Iowa, #9 Northwestern, #10 Princeton, #12 Purdue, #17 North Carolina, #20 Oklahoma, #23 Virginia, #25 Central Michigan).
Additional teams include: American, Army West Point, Bloomsburg, Brown, Bucknell, Cal Poly, Campbell, Columbia, Franklin & Marshall, Harvard, Illinois, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Penn and Southern Illinois Edwardsville.

• Brock Hudkins has a first-place finish at the MSU Open and third-place finish at the Journeyman Classic. Hudkins has posted a 7-1 record on the season. Hudkins has two major decisions and a pin on the season.
• Jacob Covaciu is 7-3 on the season. Covaciu finihd in fourth-place at the MSU Open and second-place at the Black Knight Invite.
• This week in the individual rankings, Brock Hudkins is ranked No. 6, and Jacob Covaciu is ranked No. 20.
• The Hoosiers will send six freshmen to compete in this elite tournament. The Hoosiers freshmen class earned a ranking of 16 and were sixth among all Big Ten schools.
• The Hoosiers announced their 2020 recruiting class of Jacob Moran, Nico Bolivar, Santos Cantu and Derek Gilcher. Cantu was previously committed to Ohio State before he choose Indiana.
• The Hoosiers host their Big Ten home opener on Friday Jan. 10 against Iowa at Wilkinson Hall at 7:00 p.m. ET. Indiana hosts Purdue on Monday Jan. 20 at 7:00 p.m.
