
No. 14 Indiana Wins 58-45 Over No. 21 Miami In Big Ten/ACC Challenge

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Junior guard Jaelynn Penn scored a game-high 17 points and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the final 1:17 of the game to help No. 14 Indiana defeated No. 21 Miami, 58-45, in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday night.

- The game started off sloppy on both ends with a combined 17 turnovers between the two teams. Playing within three points of each other for much of the frame, IU buckets from Patberg and Gulbe to go up three, 14-11, at the end of one.
- In the second, IU (7-1) found itself in a five-point hole before going on an 11-0 run thanks to back-to-back 3-pointers from senior forward Brenna Wise and sophomore forward Aleksa Gulbe in the final 3:37 to regain the lead at halftime, 31-25. Patberg scored all 12 of her points on the night in the first half.
- IU tapped in to its offense in the third and continued the run, making it a 15-0 run before it was over and going up 41-29 as Miami (5-3) was forced to take a timeout. Indiana would go on to take an 11-point lead, 46-35 in to the fourth.
- Offense came at a premium for both teams in the fourth quarter as Indiana was held without a field goal for the first six minutes as the Hurricanes cut the deficit to as few as six, 46-40.
- But Wise and Penn responded with back-to-back 3-pointers with just under three minutes to play to put the Hoosiers back up by 12. Miami was forced to foul in the final 1:17 of the game where Penn would step up and drain 6-straight free throws to help close it out.
- Junior guard Jaelynn Penn had a season-high and game-high 17 points in the win. Its her third game in double figures this season and 48th time in her career.
- Redshirt junior guard Ali Patberg was also in double figures with 12 points. She also rounded out her stat line with six assists and five rebounds and shot 6-for-10 from the floor.
- Sophomore forward Aleksa Gulbe returned and came off the bench for 10 points and eight rebounds.
- Senior forward Brenna Wise chipped in eight points and eight rebounds in the win.
- Freshman forward Mackenzie Holmes added seven points and a team-high three steals.
- Redshirt freshman guard Chanel Wilson made her first career start.
- The Hoosiers pulled out the victory despite a season-low in points (58) and field goal percentage (37.5%).
- They would hold Miami to just 21.7 percent shooting from the field. Their 45 points were also the fourth time IU has held an opponent to under 50 points this season and
