Hoosiers Move Up in Coaches Rankings

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– The NCAA released their second coaches panel rankings today and four Hoosiers earned spots in the rankings. The first RPI came out and six Hoosiers are included in that list.
The final rankings will be one of the tools used as part of the selection process to determine qualifiers and seeding for the 2019 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on March 21-23 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
Senior Jake Danishek at 157 moved up from 27th in the first coaches rankings to now ranked 21st. Danishek has won three of his last four matches, including wins over #6 Griffin Parriott of Purdue and #18 Dominick Mandarino of Stanford.
Senior Bryce Martin comes in at 23rd at 165. Martin has won five of his last six matches, including the last two with major decisions. Martin is 17-7 on the season and 5-2 in Big Ten dual matches.
Jake Covaciu is 26th at 174. Covaciu won the Edinboro Open and has won four of his last five matches.
Rounding out the rankings for the Hoosiers is Garrett Pepple at 32nd at 133. Pepple is 13-10 on the season and has four pins.
In the RPI the Hoosiers have six: (Martin 22, Pepple 24, Covaciu 26, Norman Conley-184 26, Liam Cronin-125 30 and Danishek 33.
