OPENING TIP
Indiana University is in its 119th season of competition in men's basketball. The Hoosiers are coming off an 84-63 loss at Minnesota. Purdue defeated Rutgers, 76-64. The Boilermakers won the previous meeting between the teams in West Lafayette, 70-55.
THE COACHES
Indiana Coach Archie Miller is in his 2nd season of guiding the Cream and Crimson. He has a 29-27 record since taking over the Hoosiers. He is 168-90 in 7-plus years as a head coach, which includes 6 years at the University of Dayton. His Flyer teams made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014. Matt Painter is in his 14th year with the Boilermakers.
HONORING THE VAN ARSDALE'S
IU will honor former All-Americans Dick and Tom Van Arsdale at halftime of tonight's game. The Indianapolis Manual products shared Indiana's Mr. Basketball Award in 1961 and played for the Hoosiers from 1962-65. Tom scored 1,252 points in his career and Dick contributed 1,240 in the Cream and Crimson. Both earned All-American honors in 1965 and helped Team USA to a World University Games gold medal. They both also earned Academic All-American honors. Dick played 12 seasons in the NBA with the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns and was a 3-time All Star. Tom also played 12 seasons in the NBA with Kansas City Kings, Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix Suns. He also made 3 All-Star appearances.

Senior forward Juwan Morgan and freshman guard Romeo Langford were selected to the 10-member Preseason All-Big Ten team. Langford is the top freshman scorer in the conference averaging 17.2ppg. He has shot 40.7% from long distance over the last 4 games making 11 of 27 3FG. He has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week 4 times. Morgan earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors and USBWA Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week accolades after his record-setting 35-point effort against Butler. He has scored 1,213 career points (37th all-time at IU) and is 4th in the B1G in double-doubles with 8.
After ranking as high as 2nd in the nation in field goal shooting a few weeks ago, the Hoosiers have shot just 38.4% in their last 11 games.
Junior De'Ron Davis (ankle), who had only played 31 minutes in 6 games since December 19, played a season-high 25 minutes and posted more season-high's in points (12), rebounds (6) and assists (4) against the Spartans. Against Iowa, he played 23 minutes and had 4 points, 5 boards and a career-high 7 assists. He had 6 points against Ohio State and had 10 points, 4 rebounds and 3 blocked shots against Minnesota. He is averaging 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in the last 4 games and is shooting a team-high 55.0% in that span.
Redshirt freshman Race Thompson made his long-awaited return from a concussion he suffered before the 3rd game of the season. Playing in his home state of Minnesota, he played 7 minutes and had 2 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocked shots and a steal against the Golden Gophers.
