BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – On the heels of the second-best start in program history, Indiana Softball (9-0) has moved up four spots in this week's USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll to reach a No. 19 ranking.
It marks the first time the Hoosiers have cracked the top 20 in the Coaches Poll since a No. 19 ranking on April 17, 1996. Last week's No. 24 ranking was the first time IU has been included in the rankings since 1996.
IU went 4-0 in last weekend's ACC/Big Ten Challenge, earning a pair of wins against Duke and Syracuse. For her impressive efforts in the circle, senior Tara Trainer earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Indiana returns to action this weekend as the Hoosiers head to Macon, Ga. to play in the Black and Orange Challenge, hosted by Mercer.
