
Indiana Travels to Tennessee this Weekend

• Indiana continues a six-game road trip this weekend as it travels to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers.
• Friday will be the third ever meeting between IU and Tennessee, as the two squads last met on March 5, a 6-3 victory for the Hoosiers.
• The all-time series between the two schools is tied, 1-1.
• Indiana Head Coach Jeff Mercer enters his first season with the Hoosiers and his 10th overall year in coaching collegiately. He has posted a 79-49 career record after leading Wright State to winning seasons in each of his two years with the Raiders, including a 2018 Horizon League title and NCAA Regional appearance.
• Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello enters his second season at the helm of the Volunteer baseball program following four seasons as assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Arkansas. He also has had stops at Missouri and TCU.
• The Hoosiers are coming off a winning opening weekend at Memphis, as they took two of three games from the Tigers.
• Indiana's weekend starting rotation consisting of senior Pauly Milto, junior Tanner Gordon, and sophomore Tommy Sommer tossed a scoreless inning in 16 of 17 frames.
• Milto, IU's Friday starter, put together a seven-inning outing, allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out seven in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday against Memphis.
• It marked his 10th career game in which he went at least six innings while allowing zero earned runs.
• In his last two opening day starts, Milto has combined for 13 innings, allowing no runs and just three hits, with 12 strikeouts and two walks (6 IP, 1 H, 5 K, 2BB vs. Kansas State on Feb. 17, 2018).
• Sommer's six innings were a career-high, besting his previous mark of 4.1 innings against Ball State on April 18, 2018.
• Sophomore third baseman Cole Barr hit his first career home run on the weekend, while junior Matt Gorski went deep for the 13th time in his career.
• Senior Matt Lloyd, Gordon and Gorski were named Indiana's three Players to Watch by the Big Ten and the Hoosiers were picked to finish fourth in the league by the conference coaches.
• Gorski picked up a handful of preseason honors, including preseason All-American laurels from the NCBWA, D1 Baseball and Perfect Game.
• Lloyd additionally joined Gorski in earning preseason All-American honrors, picking up nod from Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball.
• Since the start of the 2008 season, Indiana leads the Big Ten in wins (386) and conference wins (161). The Hoosiers have made six NCAA Regionals over that span, the most out of any current Big Ten team.
