Hoosiers Capture Wins Against Marquette, Butler

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team completed a strong day of tennis with victories over Marquette (6-1) and Butler (7-0) on Sunday at the IU Tennis Center.
The Hoosiers improved to 4-1 on the season after a weekend with three wins, which included a 7-0 victory over Western Michigan on Saturday.
Against Marquette the Hoosiers won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to win the doubles point. In singles, Indiana took five of six first sets and won each of those five matches in straight sets.
Caitlin Bernard rebounded from a first set loss to win her second set, 6-3 and win the third in a 10-point tiebreak.
In the second match of the day, against Butler, Indiana won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, both 6-1 to win the doubles points.
The Hoosiers had another strong start to singles as they won the first set in each of the six singles matches.
Indiana won all six singles matches in straight sets for the 7-0 victory.
Up next the Hoosiers host James Madison, Notre Dame and Saint Louis at the IU Tennis Center.
