Hoosiers Set to Compete in Three Meets This Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Indiana Track & Field is set to compete in three meets throughout the weekend. The Hoosiers will send nine athletes to the Iowa State Classic, jumps will travel to the Tyson Invite hosted by the University of Arkansas, and the rest of the team will remain here to host Hoosier Hills inside Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse on Friday evening. The Tyson Invite and Iowa State Classic are two day meets that will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Admission to Hoosier Hills is free to the public. Parking for the meet is available through Gate 12 off of Fee Lane.

Record Setting Weekend
Eight personal records, two facility records, and one meet record were broken during competition at the Power Five Invite this past weekend. Alexis Hill (weight throw), Princess Brinkley (weight throw), Nycia Ford (weight throw), Claire Hamilton (mile), Bailey Hertenstein (mile), Hope Purcell (60m hurdles), and Derek Grimmer (400m), all set PR's. William Session tied the facility record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.96 while Adam Coulon broke the facility record in the pole vault after clearing a height of 5.38m (17' 7.75"). Khayla Dawson was the lone Hoosier to break a meet record as she threw a distance of 17.42m (57' 2") in the shot put.
Keeping Up with the Hoosiers
After breaking the school record, the men's DMR team currently holds the fastest time in the NCAA so far this season. The Hoosiers ran a time of 7:29.30
Brathwaite and Zubin Muncherji have seen success in their college careers, but also have had success in their home countries. Brathwaite is a native of the British Virgin Islands and now holds the country's record in the 60-meter with a time of 6.68. Muncherji calls Singapore home and holds four records in various events including the 200m (22.60), 400m (47.82), 500m (1;04.38), and 600m (1:21.99).
In the Rankings
The USTFCCCA released their weekly national ratings index on Monday Feb. 4. The men's team remained ranked 12th in the latest poll.
In the regional rankings, the men's squad remained on top of the Great Lakes region. The women's moved down spot as Ohio State controls the top the of the women's great lakes region.
