Hoosiers Get Saturday Sweep with Wins over No. 21 UConn, Northeastern

CONWAY, S.C. – Indiana baseball (6-4) extended its winning streak to four games with a pair of wins over No. 21 UConn and Northeastern on Saturday. The Hoosiers picked up a 6-4 victory over Northeastern in the first game, followed by a 9-6 win over UConn.
In the first game, the Hoosiers got another strong start from senior Pauly Milto, who tossed eight innings allowing three runs. Senior Logan Kaletha homered in the game as the Hoosiers tallied a then season-high 10 hits.
IU came back in the second contest and bested that season-high with 11 hits. Junior Matt Gorski hit a grand slam and senior Wyatt Cross also homered in the win.
GAME 1: Indiana 6, Northeastern 4
KEY MOMENTS
• In the bottom of the first, sophomore Drew Ashley worked a one-out walk, which was then followed by Kaletha's two-run home run to right center.
• Later in the inning, sophomore Cole Barr had a productive at-bat, as he drove in senior Matt Lloyd, who singled, from third on an RBI groundout.
• Sophomore Justin Walker reached third in the top of the second after he doubled off the wall and advanced on junior Jeremy Houston's ground out. From there, he scored on Gorski's single up the middle.
• After Ashley reached on an infield single later in the inning, he and Gorski completed a double steal. Kaletha singled up the middle to score Gorski, which was followed by a wild pitch, which allowed Ashley to score, making it a 6-0 game.
• In the top of the eighth inning with two outs, Milto surrendered a three-run home run to Corey DiLoreto to cut the lead in half.
• Northeastern tried to creep closer in the top of the ninth, but was only able to get one run off of sophomore Connor Manous.
NOTES
• Milto, went eight innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs, struck out seven and walked two, marking the 18th quality start of his career.
• From the third inning through the seventh inning, Milto retired 12-straight hitters he faced.
• Kaletha's first inning home run marked his third long ball of the year and the 11th of his career.
• The senior's two-hit game marked his third multi-hit game of the season and the 19th of his career. He additionally has three multi-RBI games this season and nine on his career.
• Gorski's two-hit performance gave him 41 multi-hit games on his career and three for the year.
• With Ashley and Barr each recording hits, they extended their reached base streaks to eight and six games, respectively.

• A single, double, wild pitch and sacrifice fly led to two runs in the bottom of the first inning for the Huskies.
• UConn added on to the lead in the bottom of the third inning as Michael Woodworth hit a leadoff solo home run to make it a 3-0 game.
• Indiana got its scoring started in the top of the fourth. Ashley hit a one-out single, Kaletha was hit by pitch and Lloyd singled to load the bases. From there, Barr walked and sophomore Sam Crail hit a sacrifice fly to plate two runs.
