Hoosiers Fall to No. 21 Michigan, 5-2

Bloomington, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team (9-8, 3-2 B1G) fell to the No. 21 ranked Michigan Wolverines (12-5, 3-2 B1G) on Sunday afternoon inside the IU Tennis Center.
The Hoosiers wins came from Antonio Cembellin at No. 1 singles and Zac Brodney on the No. 4 singles court.
Doubles were close throughout with all three matches reaching a tie at 3-3 before Michigan won 6-3 to begin the day on No. 2. Carson Haskins and Brandon Lam responded with a 7-5 win on No. 1 to even doubles. The Wolverines squandered the Hoosiers chances at the doubles point when they grabbed a win at No. 3, 7-5.
Antonio Cembellin, facing the No. 46 ranked singles player, rolled out to a 6-0 first set win on the No. 1 court. He followed up the strong performance with a 6-3 second set win to claim the match and upset. Cembellin now holds a 10-3 record on the season
With the match tied at 1-1, IU saw themselves down in most of the other courts. The Hoosiers rallied to force a third set on No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6. On No. 5, Andrew Redding won 11-9 in the tiebreaker in his second set.
The Wolverines climbed back ahead on the scoreboard with two wins, on No. 3 and No. 6, to make it 3-1.
Indiana inched closer when Zac Brodney won his match on No. 4 in three sets but it wasn't enough as Michigan finished the day with match victories on the No. 5 and No. 2 courts.
Up next, Indiana hits the road to face Wisconsin on April 5 at 3 PM and Minnesota on April 7 with first serve at 1 PM. The Hoosiers will be back in Bloomington for its final home weekend when they host Nebraska (April 13 – 12PM) and Iowa/Saint Louis (April 14 – 12/5PM).
