Hoosiers Travel to Minnesota for Big Ten Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– The Indiana wrestling team is set for the Big Ten Championships, March 9-10 at Williams Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

• The Hoosiers finished the dual match season 6-12 overall and 1-8 in the Big Ten.
• Last time out Indiana shut out Chattanooga 32-0. It was their first shut out against a DI opponent since the 2013 season.
• The Hoosiers beat No. 25 Stanford, 30-7 on Feb. 9.
• The win over Stanford was the Hoosiers second win of the season over a ranked opponent (#12 North Carolina at the South Beach Duals).
• The last time Indiana won two matches over ranked opponents was the 2008-09 season.
• Two Indiana wrestlers are in the FloWrestling rankings this week. Elijah Oliver is ranked 18 at 125 and Jake Danishek is ranked 18 at 157.
• Oliver leads Indiana with 24 wins this season and ended the dual against Stanford with a pin against No. 20 Gabriel Townsell.
• Against Iowa, redshirt freshman Kyle Luigs pinned #16 Max Murin at 141 lb.
• The Hoosiers opened their new arena Wilkinson Hall, on Jan. 13 with a 36-3 win against Maryland.
• Senior Jake Danishek earned Big Ten Co-Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 22. Against Purdue Danishek beat No. 6 Griffin Parriott.
• Jake Danishek and Bryce Martin have combined to go 35-18 overall this season, including 10-4 in Big Ten dual matches.
• Martin has won six of his last seven matches and his last three wins have been by major decision, outscoring opponents 40-8.
• In the South Beach Duals in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the Hoosiers beat then #12 North Carolina (currently ranked #17).
• Among the best individual wins for the Hoosiers, Paul Konrath beat #4 Tariq Wilson of NC State in a 4-3 decision at the South Beach Duals.
• In the win over North Carolina, Norman Conley bested #11 Chip Ness in a 3-2 decision.
• The Indiana senior class has combined for 90 wins this season and 334 wins combined in their careers in Bloomington.
