Indiana University is in its 119th season of competition in men's basketball. The Hoosiers have a three-game winning streak, and are coming off a 92-74 win on the road at Illinois. Before that game, 7 of the last 8 Hoosier contests have been one possession games in the final minute and include 3 overtime games. Rutgers fell at home, 66-65 on Wednesday. Rutgers has won the last 2 meetings, including a 66-58 win at home in late January. This is just the 3rd meeting between the teams in Bloomington. The winner will receive a first round bye in next week's Big Ten Tournament as the #8 or #9 seed.

His Flyer teams made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014. Steve Pikiell is in his 3rd year at Rutgers.

IU has played the 6th toughest schedule in the country according to KenPom.com. IU has 4 wins against the Top 25 including MSU (twice), Wisconsin and Marquette, which is tied for 3rd most in the Big Ten.
Senior forward Juwan Morgan and freshman guard Romeo Langford were selected to the 10-member Preseason All-Big Ten team. Langford is the top freshman scorer in the conference averaging 16.6 ppg. He has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week 4 times. Langford's scoring average is the third highest for a freshman at IU. Eric Gordon averaged 20.9 in 2007-08 and Mike Woodson averaged 18,5 in 1976-77. His scored a game-winning layup with .8 remaining in double OT against Wisconsin. Langford leads all B1G frosh in scoring (16.2), minutes (1019), FTM/FTA (132/184), is 4th in blocked shots (25, rebounds (5.3) and assists (2.3) and 6th in steals (0.8).
Morgan earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors and USBWA Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week accolades after his record-setting 35-point effort against Butler. He has scored 1,273 career points (30th all-time at IU) and is 4th in the B1G in double-doubles with 8. He converted a game-winning and-1 with 1:46 to go against MSU and is averaging 10.1 boards and in the last 7 games.
IU was the top-rated shooting team nationally in non-conference games, making 53.7% from the field, including 37.4% from long distance. That included games against Marquette, Arkansas, Duke, Louisville and Butler. IU made 7 of its last 14 3's at Illinois.
Freshman Rob Phinisee is averaging 11.3 points in the last 4 games after his career-high 17-point effort at Illinois. IU was 10-2 when he went down with a concussion against Central Arkansas. He played 108 minutes during this winning streak with 14 assists and just 1 turnover. Sophomore Justin Smith leads the team during the win streak averaging 17.0 points per game.
