SEATTLE, Wash. – Behind a stellar outing from senior right-handed pitcher Pauly Milto, Indiana Baseball (7-5) earned a 1-0 victory over the Washington Huskies on Friday night at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners.
Milto took a no-hitter to the eighth inning. With two outs in the eighth, the Huskies were able to flare a single to right field to take away the no-hit bid. The Greenwood, Ind.-native went eight innings, allowing one hit with six strikeouts and a walk.
KEY MOMENTS
• In the top of the sixth, sophomore Cole Barr was down in the count but fought back to work a leadoff walk. Junior Jeremy Houston also walked with one out to give the Hoosiers runners on first and second.
• With two outs and an 0-2 count, sophomore Drew Ashley laced a single to left to score Barr from second to give IU the only run it needed.
• Senior Matt Lloyd was strong defensively at first base, making two key plays on hard-hit ground balls in the sixth inning. Then, with two outs in the seventh, Barr made a nice play where he had to move to his right on the line, fielded the ball and made the throw where Lloyd was able to apply the tag.
NOTES
