Hoosiers Top Nittany Lions, 5-2

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Indiana women's tennis team started the weekend with a 5-2 victory on the road at Penn State on Friday.
The Hoosiers (14-9, 4-4) got off to a good start as they No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to win the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead. Caitlin Bernard and Natalie Whalen improved to 25-6 overall and 6-1 in Big Ten play.
Penn State (11-8, 3-5) got on the board first in singles and took a 2-1 lead in the match with wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles.
The Hoosiers responded as Natalie Whalen and Jelly Bozovic win to put Indiana up 3-2. For Whalen, she improved to 25-5 overall and 7-1 in Big Ten play.
Madison Appel clinched the match for the Hoosiers with a 6-4, 6-4 win and Somer Henry added a point for Indiana.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Ohio State for a match on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
