Hoosiers Fall at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In a tightly contested match, with four of the six singles matches going three-sets, the Indiana women's tennis team came up short as they fell 5-2 to Purdue on Saturday.

Purdue (7-11, 2-5) won the doubles points with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to get out to a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Hoosiers (13-9, 3-4) struck first in singles to even things up as senior Natalie Whalen won 7-5, 6-3.

Purdue won at No. 1 and No. 4 singles to go up 3-1, but Indiana responded with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 win from freshman Somer Henry to bring it to 3-2.

Purdue won the last two matches, both in three-sets to win the match.

Up next the Hoosiers close out their road swing with matches at Penn State and Ohio State next week.
