No. 25 Indiana Clinches Series with 10-8 Win over No. 19 Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – In a game that featured 26 hits and 12 extra-base hits, Indiana baseball (33-17, 14-6 Big Ten) cranked out a 10-8 victory over No. 19 Michigan on Saturday to clinch the series victory.

KEY MOMENTS
• In the top of the third, sophomore Justin Walker singled and junior Matt Gorski walked, leading to a two-run single from senior Matt Lloyd. Sophomore Cole Barr then followed with a two-out, RBI double to give IU a 3-0 lead.
• Michigan cut into the Indiana lead in the bottom of the fourth. A leadoff double by Jordan Brewer led to RBI singles from Miles Lewis and Jack Blomgren, trimming it to a one-run game.
• The Hoosiers stormed back with a four-run fifth. Gorski led off with a walk and Lloyd drove him in on a two-run home run. Sophomore Elijah Dunham followed with a single and sophomore Cole Barr drove him in on a two-run shot to make it 7-2.
• A two-run double by Michigan's Joe Donovan and an RBI single by Jordan Nwogou trimmed the Hoosier lead to two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
• With the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh, senior Ryan Fineman had a clutch, two-run single to bring the score back up to 9-5.
• Following a two-run seventh for the Wolverines, Dunham cracked a solo home run in the top of the ninth to give Indiana a three-run cushion.
• Michigan did trim the lead to 10-8 in the bottom of the ninth, but Lloyd forced a popup to right to end the game with runners on first and second.

NOTES
• With the series win, head coach Jeff Mercer has won six of his first seven Big Ten series this season. Dating back to his two years at Wright State, he has lost just two league series as a head coach (at Illinois in 2019, vs. UIC in 2017).
• Junior Tanner Gordon started on the mound for Indiana, allowing two runs and six hits in five innings of work, striking out four and walking one.
• Dunham, who did not have a three-hit game entering Friday's contest, strung together his second-straight one on Saturday.
