Cembellin Earns ITA Most Improved Senior Award

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Antonio Cembellin was recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association with the Most Improved Award for the Ohio Valley Region.
Cembellin finished his last season in Bloomington playing at the No. 1 spot for the Hoosiers with a 23-11 overall singles record and 6-4 mark in Big Ten matches.
From his freshman season to playing at the No. 5 position for the Hoosiers, Cembellin has moved up each year in Bloomington.
Cembellin, who earned First Team All-Big Ten honors this year, tallied 76 singles wins for his career at Indiana.
Cembellin reached the semifinals of the 2018 ITA DI Ohio Valley Men's Regional Championships and earned at at-large bid to the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
"Antonio truly is one of those people that has become better in every facet since his arrival on campus four years ago," IU head coach Jeremy Wurtzman said. "From a tennis perspective, his obsessive and meticulous commitment to getting better year-round is what we hope our returning players remember him for the most."
Cembellin earned an undergraduate degree in Biotechnology at IU and has been accepted into medical school at UC Davis.
