Last Time Out: Penn Relays
The Penn Relays proved to be kind to the Hoosiers this past weekend. For the first time in program history, the women's 4x800 meter relay team brought home a Championship of America title. Joely Pinkston, Haley Harris, Mallory Mulzer, and Kelsey Harris took to the track to combine for a time of 8 to earn the first women's Penn Relays wheel in program history and the first wheel since 1954. Indiana also saw runners up honors in Championship of America events, the women's 4x1500, men's DMR, SMR, 4x8, and 4xMile. Five Hoosiers captured individual championship accolades. On day one, Maddy Pollard defeated the rest of the field in the women's shot put with a distance of 16.41m (53' 10.25") in her first Penn Relays event. Later that night, Daniel Michalski (8:34.26) and Maggie Allen (9:18.33) picked up first place finishes in the steeple and 3,000m. Allen's win in the 3,000m was her second of the Penn Relays as she won the event in 2018. Leah Moran won her first championship in the triple jump with a season high distance of 12.83m (42' 1.25").
