Indiana Track & Field Poised for Stint at NCAA East Preliminary Round

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Indiana Track & Field travels to Jacksonville, Fla. this week to compete in the NCAA East Regional Preliminary rounds. The meet will begin on Thursday, May 23 and wrap up on Saturday, May 25 with tickets to the NCAA Championships on the line. The meet will be hosted by the University of North Florida and the Jacksonville Sports Council at Hodges Stadium on the campus of North Florida.

The player guest/will call entrance will be located at the main entrance to the venue.
Parking for UNF Athletic Events is free 1 hour prior to, and up through 1 hour after the contest in lots 5 (Tennis Center), 5T (Dottie Dorian Fitness Center), and 18 (Large North Lot).
All three days of the meet will broadcast live on FloTrack. Fans will also be able to follow along with live results here.
Schedule of Events
The NCAA East Regional will consist of x events for the Hoosiers—x track events and x field events. Thursday will consist of the first round of the 100m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m. The Hoosiers could potentially see action on Friday and Saturday if they advance to the quarterfinals of their respective events. The steeplechase and 500m will have regional quarterfinals where 12 will advance to the national meet. The 10000m semifinal will also advance the top 12 to Austin, Texas.
Thursday's Track Schedule— 1500m (women's & men's), 100m (men's), 400m (women's), 800m (women's & men's), 10,000m (women's & men's).
Thursday's Field Schedule— High jump (women's), hammer (women's), pole vault (men's), and long jump (women's).

Last Time Out: Big Ten Championships
Indiana is coming off of two second place finishes at the Big Ten Conference Championships. The Hoosiers saw six individual champions throughout the weekend. After four strong years, Maggie Allen won her first Big Ten title in the 10K with a facility record time of 33:08.59. Ben Veatch won his first Big Ten Championship in the 5K while Cooper Williams fended off the indoor 800m champion to capture gold in the event. Switching to the field, Adam Coulon completed the sweep of indoor and outdoor title in the pole vault after also setting facility record of 5.41m. Joining him on the podium, Brock Mammoser earned runner-up honors by setting a new personal record of 5.31m. Khayla Dawson saw a Big Ten title in the shot put. Her distance of 17.65m was a program record, facility record, and personal record. Rounding out the field was Leah Moran who also took home her first championship honor in the triple jump.

Cooper Williams, Daniel Kuhn, Joe Murphy, Adam Coulon, Ben Veatch, and Maggie Allen all advanced to national last season. Haley Harris and Kelsey Harris look to improve from last season when they fell short in quarterfinals of the 1500m and 800m. 17 will make their first appearance at the East Prelims this weekend. Also making their return, Eric Bethea (triple jump), Leah Moran (triple jump), Khayla Dawson (shot put), Nycia Ford (hammer) Teddy Browning (1500m), Bryce Millar (5K), Joely Pinkston (800m).
First Time for Everything
17 will make their first appearance at the East Prelims this weekend. Aaron Bennett (800m), Rikkoi Brathwaite (100m), Jyles Eitenne (high jump), Nick Lane (hammer), Brock Mammoser, (pole vault) Jalen Royal (800m), and Adam Wallace (800m) will take the track for the first time in prelims in their respective events. On the women's side, Lexa Barrott (steeple), Claire Hamilton (1500m), Jenna Jungels (long jump), Kelly Mindak (800m), Mallory Mulzer (800m), Maddy Pollard (shot put), Hope Purcell (high jump), and Anna Watson (pole vault) will get their shot at advancing to the national meet in the respective events. Kenneth Hagen and Daniel Michalski will rep the cream & crimson for the first time as Hagen competes in the 1500m and Michalski competes in the steeple.
In the Region
USTFCCCA announced their final weekly regional ratings index on Monday May 13. Both squads checked in at No.2 in the Great Lakes Region. Ohio State owns the top spot in both polls.
