BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Coming back from multiple major injuries, including being involved in a fatal car crash, senior Cole Weaver has inspired others with his perseverance.
It is that perseverance that has earned Weaver recognition as he has been selected a recipient of the 14th Annual Brady Comeback Scholarship Award.
The Methodist Sports Medicine Research and Education Foundation, the non-profit arm of Methodist Sports Medicine sponsors the award,
It is unique by honoring both male and female student-athletes at the collegiate and high school level from Indiana who have distinguished themselves by overcoming adversity or injury, and returned to excelled beyond expectations in their respective sport (s).
Recipients of the award receive a $1,500 scholarship.
Indiana Assistant Athletic Trainer Kyle Winters nominated Weaver for the award.
"Cole is one of the best student-athletes I've had the privilege of working with," Winters said in his nomination letter. His determination and resiliency are unmatched, and what he does for others he does never seeking recognition. While Cole would be the last person to say he is deserving of any award that recognizes the struggles he has had to endure in his short collegiate career, I can think of no one more deserving."
Weaver will be formally recognized at the Brady Sports Achievement Award Dinner at the Crane Bay in Indianapolis on May 10.
