Second Varsity 8 and First Varsity 4 Advance To A/B Semis After Day One Of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana advanced two boats to A/B semifinals on day one of the NCAA Rowing Championships at Eagle Creek State Park. The Hoosiers' Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 boats will both advanced in their heats to the A/B semifinals tomorrow.
KEY MOMENTS
- After a long delay due to conditions on the course, racing began late in the afternoon with the 1V8 kicking things off in the first heat. A fourth-place finish with a time of 6:23.849 led IU to the C/D semifinal tomorrow morning. They would finish less than a second behind Duke in fourth place and five ticks behind third place Yale.
- In the 2V8, Indiana was able to fend off Harvard in the final 500 meters to finish third and automatically advance to tomorrow's A/B semifinal with a time of 6:32.115. They came in behind California (6:24.858) and Virginia (6:29.904).
- To close out racing for the day, the Varsity 4 came away with a solid third place finish in a heavy Big Ten heat and spot in the A/B semifinal tomorrow with a 7:09.447 time in heat four. They were just in behind heat winner Ohio State and Michigan as it came in just four seconds off the top spot while posting ahead of Wisconsin in fourth place.
