BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – IU alum Siri Kristiansen (2014-17) was named to the Norwegian National Rowing team to compete in the World Rowing Championships August 25-Sept 1, 2019 in Linz, Austria.
"It's a dream come true and great honor to be able to represent Norway. I have put in a lot of hours in to rowing and It's nice to see my hard work pay off," Kristiansen said. "The world championships will also be the qualifications for the Olympics, so there's definitely a big payoff for doing well at worlds."
She will be part of the pair boat in next month's championships, a boat she just began racing in in May. Originally, Kristiansen came to Bloomington to as a member of the swim team but an injury led her to a spot on the roster with IU rowing.
Kristiansen, a native of Drammen, Norway, raced just one season for the Hoosiers due to injury but was on the roster for three seasons. She was part of IU's 12th place finish in the First Varsity Boat at NCAA Championships in 2016.
"It definitely did everything for me to be an athlete at Indiana. I learned to row here and I got back to Norway where I was able to take my rowing career to the next level. I'm excited for the challenge of competing at worlds next month," Kristiansen said.
