Fitzner, Blackmon Jr. Sign Professional Contracts

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - A pair of former Indiana men's basketball players, Evan Fitzner and James Blackmon Jr., recently signed contracts to continue their basketball playing careers. Fitzner will begin his professional career in Denmark while Blackmon will play his second professional season in Italy.
Fitzner will compete with Team FOG Næstved in the top professional league in Denmark. In his one season as a graduate transfer at IU after playing his first three years at St. Mary's, Fitzner averaged 3.5 points and 2.0 rebounds. Fitzner's sister, Emily, will be a freshman on the Indiana volleyball team for the 2019 season.
Blackmon will play for Aquila Basket Trento, based in Trentino, Italy, in the top professional league in Italy. Last year while playing for Consultinvest Pesaro, which is in the same league, Blackmon averaged 20.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 34.9 percent from the 3-point line and 90.3 percent at the free throw line in 29 games. In his three seasons at Indiana, Blackmon averaged 16.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and shot 41.5 percent from the 3-point line while also helping the Hoosiers to the 2016 Big Ten Championship.
